Hanna Group was founded in 1957 by Charles Alfred Stuart Hanna Snr and his son, Charles Hanna. From ambitious beginnings the duo commenced sales and manufacturing of printed advertising balloons from a small factory behind their home in Carlingford NSW. With Charles Hanna Snr’s experience in rubber latex manufacturing and Charles’ sales and marketing skills, the business set its sights on becoming an important supplier of promotional products in an exciting era for the advertising industry.
In 1967, the business moved into a new purpose built facility at North Richmond NSW where it commenced printing and manufacturing advertising matches. The trading company – Hanna Match Group was formed. Charles Hanna Snr retired in 1969 and over the next two decades his son Charles Hanna grew the business into the leading provider of advertising specialty products with a distribution network spanning Australia and New Zealand.
Looking for the next growth opportunity and product diversification, Charles Hanna purchased folding carton manufacturing company Boxton & Carr in 1984, which was relocated to the North Richmond facility and incorporated into the Group as Hannapak. By applying the same principles of service and product innovation that had been used in servicing the advertising industry, the company quickly gained success and the reputation as market leader. With the packaging industry at a tipping point for change, Hannapak’s continued investment in innovation and technology has continuously set the standard for the industry.
Today the company continues to operate from its expansive 30,000m2 modern facility at North Richmond and employs over 220 full time staff. Hannapak is now the largest privately owned, family operated company in the segment of folding cartons. Under the leadership of Sam Hanna, Managing Director and Charles Hanna, Executive Chairman the company remains true to its core of combining traditional values with state of the art technology.
